The first handful of Tigers were issued with no pioneer tools, but very soon a standard set of tools was added to the design. They are already visible on vehicle 250011 [1, see 3.4.1.4] .
They included a jack to lift the tank, and a wooden block for the jack to sit on.
This block was stored on the tank by four small corner stops welded to the hull top. There was also a strap running over the top of the block. This is an example of the empty holder (on the tank at Saumur museum). Here, the strap is missing.
The holder had room for a block of 380mm square. This diagram shows the original location of the holder on the Tiger's front hull roof.
By October 1943 the single remaining headlight was moved to the center of the front plate [1, see 3.4.1.21] , and an electric lead was run out through the hull roof as shown here. The block had to be moved slightly to make room for this.
